Ordo Virtutum is an allegorical moralizing liturgical play written by the great German nun, spiritual teacher, and prophetess Hildegard of Bingen in 1151. It is considered the earliest morality play and the only surviving complete work (text and music) of that distant era. The music of Hildegard poorly follows the classical Gregorian structure and abounds in melismas and movements on large intervals.
